Senior service agencies would stand to gain

For the first time, digital marketing will account for more than half of ad spending for US businesses, predicted the Wall Street Journal recently.

That’s news that the senior care services company can benefit from.

Much of that is due to the effects of the coronavirus, as consumers are staying indoors and spending more time on the internet, the paper said.

Senior services and home care agencies should review their marketing efforts. In-person sales efforts have all taken a hit during this time, such companies will no doubt agree. Therefore it would help if they took a critical look at their website design and digital footprint.

Meteoric rise of digital

The Journal referred to digital advertising’s “meteoric rise,” which has occurred at the expense of more traditional platforms, such as newspapers, local television and magazines. The article stated,

“Online ads can be cheaper than those placed on other media platforms and they allow marketers to better target and measure the performance of their ads. These advantages have become ever more important during the pandemic as businesses cut ad budgets and consumers spend more of their time and dollars online.”

Three years ago digital advertising accounted for only a third of all the country’s ad spending, the Journal said, quoting GroupM. It was then about the same size as newspapers, radio, magazines and local TV combined. “As of 2020, these four categories’ combined share of the U.S. advertising market has shrunk to 21%,” the paper said.

A few months ago we reported that the coronavirus pandemic has sucker-punched the personal services industry. A staffing company owner’s cry for help was that “Covid is thwarting my face-to-face marketing!”
