New data show a jump in search for home care agencies of 34% in four years

Have you wondered if you should add search engine optimization (SEO) to your home care agency marketing mix?

It would probably pay to do so, according to the latest data shown by Google, the world’s largest search engine.

The number of people searching for the term “home care agency” jumped 34% in the first five months of this year, compared to the same period in 2015. This could be due to more people entering retirement years. But it could also be due to more people using online searches for their research into home care, as compared to using other methods, such as asking friends and neighbors. As time goes on, those in their 50s and 60s, who are searching for quality services for their parents, have had more life experience using online search than the same age group four years ago.

Online searches show companies and website articles in one’s local area. It’s well known that Google’s first three non-paid listings get the huge bulk of clicks. People trust these listings as representative of qualified home care services.

The above graph, by Google Trends, represent search interest relative to the highest point on the chart for five years. A value of 100 is the peak popularity for the term. The blue line shows the term “home care agency” as it was searched over a five-year period. The red line shows a similar increase over the five-year period for the term home care help, with fewer searches for this term.

The values above for January through May 2015 averaged 59.7 points per month. In the same four-month period in 2019, the number was 80.2, an increase of 34%.

Home care SEO

Is home care SEO important? You bet! Home care agencies today should optimize their websites for the term, or keyword, “home care agency” using the phrase throughout their website. Search engine optimization has grown to be a science in itself today, and has become more sophisticated. Black-hat techniques, or those that trick the search engines, are used less and less. This is because search engines such as Google are refining their search algorithms to exclude and even penalize websites that try to work around their systems for higher rankings.

SEO experts today can build a website for a home care agency using complex systems of primary and secondary keywords, long-tail keywords, inter-site linking, incoming links from related and authoritative websites, and other techniques. Keywords, which are either single words or phrases, are one of the main factors used in telling Google what a website is about. Google in turn evaluates websites on the basis of trust, authority and relevance. Today, software is used to judge keyword frequency and other factors on one’s own site as well as the websites of competitors.
