Do you have hundreds of poor-quality pages on your home care agency website?
In the old days of search engine optimization, content was king.
Many home care owners just stuffed their websites with as many pages as possible. Or paid other people to do so. These pages might only be slightly relevant to what their websites were all about, but that was OK. Search engine optimization worked, more or less.
Not any more.
More recent Google search algorithms have pruned those junk pages from what they consider helpful to SEO. They no longer index them, or in other words, list them. But that means that those hundreds of pages you had put up ten years ago aren’t helping the search rankings for your home care agency website. In fact, some experts say they are hurting your rankings for people searching for home care services in your area.
Here is a YouTube interview with Google analyst Gary Illyes who explains that Google will not index, or put those pages, on their list of relevant pages.
Gary Illyes: As soon as you have more focalized pages [I think he means here focused pages] it’s natural that you will get better traffic – I mean higher quality traffic – from search engines in general.
Host: that’s right.
Gary Illyes: So from that point of view, yes narrow it down as much as you can. Like don’t create low quality, no value-added pages. It’s just not worth it because one thing is that we [at Google] don’t necessarily want – to index those pages. Why – we think that it’s a waste of resources. The other thing is that you will just not get quality traffic, and if you don’t get quality traffic then why are you burning resources on your server?
So, website design is important to get the best SEO.
