Capture More Home Care Leads
When a family realizes their aging parent or loved one needs in-home care, they rarely spend days comparing options on a computer. They are often stressed, pressed for time, and searching for immediate help—frequently right from their smartphone.
If your home care agency’s website doesn’t make it effortless for prospective clients to connect with you, you are losing valuable inquiries every single day.
To convert website traffic into actual client intakes, you need strategically placed Calls to Action (CTAs). Here is a breakdown of the most effective CTA functions every home care agency should implement, along with best practices for desktop vs. mobile users.
The Phone Number: Always Above the Fold & Clickable
The most critical Call to Action on any home care website is your phone number. When families are in urgent need of assistance, calling is almost always their preferred first step.
- Placement: Keep your phone number high on the page—strictly above the fold (visible when you first land on the page)—in the top-right header section of every page.
- Make It Tap-to-Call: Ensure the phone number is coded as a clickable link (tel:1234567890). Mobile users should be able to tap the number and call instantly without having to copy and paste or memorize digits.
The Mobile Floating Call Button
If you look at your website traffic and advertising metrics, you will likely notice a dramatic trend: mobile dominates local search.
In fact, real campaign data often shows that 95% or more of incoming calls from local Google Search ad campaigns originate from mobile devices rather than desktop computers. When families search for local care, they do it on their phones.
To accommodate mobile visitors:
- Implement a sticky or floating “Call Now” button anchored at the bottom of the mobile screen.
- As the user scrolls through your page info, the call button stays fixed on screen, keeping help just one tap away
Popups: Controversial, But They Work
Many web designers and business owners complain that popups are annoying. However, from a marketing performance standpoint, popups consistently generate conversions. When we added a popup to one of our client’s websites, we immediately saw about a half dozen new names submitted per week.
- Why Use Them: A well-timed popup (such as 10-15 seconds after page load) captures families who might otherwise bounce off your page without reaching out. The more advanced popups have a feature that turns off the popup for a given visitor for a number of days or longer.
- The Best Trigger: Use an exit-intent popup (which triggers when a desktop user moves their cursor to leave).
- The Offer: Offer immediate value—such as a “Free In-Home Safety Assessment Guide,” a free downloadable checklist on “How to Talk to Parents About Home Care,” or an instant request for a callback.
Calendar Appointments
Not every prospect wants to call immediately, but they may want dedicated time on your schedule without waiting for a back-and-forth email exchange.
- Integrate an automated scheduling widget (like Calendly or Acuity) allowing families or adult children to book a 15 or 30-minute phone call directly into your intake coordinator’s calendar.
- Place this option prominently on your Contact Us page and link to it within main service pages.
- Website Chat Box
- Adding a website chat box can capture night-owl families searching for care when offices are closed.
- Automated bots provide 24/7 engagement, instantly collecting names, phone numbers, and care needs. However, rigid scripts can frustrate stressed, emotional users.
- Live chat (real people) is the gold standard for conversion. Real staff—or an outsourced, HIPAA-compliant service—offer immediate empathy and effortlessly pivot conversations into phone calls or consultations.
- The Best Setup: Use a hybrid model. Deploy a live person during business hours to build deep trust, and switch to an intelligent, warm bot after-hours to capture late-night inquiries and set expectations for a morning call-back.
Traditional Contact Forms
While younger generations or busy adult children may prefer forms, traditional contact page form completions remain a staple for high-intent visitors.
- Keep It Short: Limit fields to essential info—Name, Phone Number, Email, Who are you asking about? Loved One’s Location, and a brief message box. Longer forms drastically reduce conversion rates.
- Clear Confirmation: Once submitted, display an immediate confirmation message setting clear expectations: “Thank you! Our care director will call you soon.”
Personalize with a Director’s Video
Trust is the currency of the home care industry. Families are entrusting you with the care and safety of their loved ones. A brief introductory video by the agency owner or care director builds instant rapport and credibility.
- Video CTA Strategy: Place a warm, 60-to-90-second welcome video in your “About Us” section.
- End the video with a clear verbal and visual Call to Action: “Give us a call today or fill out the form below to see how we can support your family.”
Mobile vs. Desktop: Should Options Be Set Up Differently?
Yes, absolutely. User behavior on mobile phones is fundamentally different than on desktop screens. See the chart below.
